Country singer Heather Myles grew up in a small town in rural California. Since everyone there listened to traditional country and honky-tonk music, she was mainly influenced by artists such as Merle Haggard and Tammy Wynette. When she started making music herself, it was no surprise that her style was quite traditional. In any case, much more traditional than the soft country pop made in Nashville
… in 2002. Her third album Highways & Honky Tonks from 1998 was well received. Since then she has worked on a successor for almost four years. The fans can breathe a sigh of relief: Sweet Talk & Good Lies is at least as strong. She once again wrote most of the songs herself. Her songs are alternately comical (Little Chapel), moving (The Love You Left Behind) and feminist (Never Had A Broken Heart 'Til You). In addition, in Nashville's Gone Hollywood, she hands out a nice sneer to all the Shania's and LeAnns in this world. In his own country, Heather Myles will undoubtedly score again with this authentic country CD. Hopefully she will also get the attention she deserves in the Netherlands this time. (MvP)more
