Dan Tyminski is the man who gave George Clooney the singing voice in O Brother, Where Art Thou ?, the film that in 2000 was responsible for the revived popularity of the bluegrass genre. The traditional Man Of Constant Sorrow sung by Tyminski became an unlikely worldwide hit. Roots fans have known him for much longer as the singer and guitarist of Union Station, the band of bluegrass queen Alison
… Krauss. Wheels is Tyminski's second solo album, but above all this is a group product, as bluegrass is essentially community music. Among the many friends who play along we find Ron Block (Union Station) and Vince Gill. The interaction is close and inspired, but always serves the song. The lyrics are full of traditional American values. Dan's own contribution as a songwriter is limited to How Many Times, in which all extremely fast plucking instrumentalists are in top form. (MS)more
