DJ Boris Dlugosh gave the duo Moloko an unexpected hit with his remix of Sing It Back from the flopped CD I Am Not A Doctor (1998). The hit version of this song concludes Things To Make And Do, the third album by producer Mark Brydon and singer Roisin Murphy. The two are just as 'freaky' on this as on their two previous albums, but have given their house, jungle and trip hop a more poppy character.
Murphy, who still looks a lot like Portishead singer Beth Gibbons, also makes her voice sound a bit more natural and less forced. Things To Make And Do is a self-willed CD, with both difficult to access, theatrical dance songs and easier to consume potential successors to Sing It Back. The latter category includes, for example, the songs Pure Pleasure Seeker, Absent Minded Friends and The Time Is Now. (WvdZ)more
