Echo Park could well be the definitive European breakthrough for the British Feeder. The trio has been making explosive guitar rock since 1995, and made a name for themselves for the first time on their second album Yesterday Went Too Soon from 1999. As is often the case with British guitar bands, the homeland gave in first and Feeder did a tour of the prestigious open air festivals of Glastonbury
… and Reading and across the United States. The successful musical direction continues on Echo Park, which was again produced by Gil Norton (Pixies, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Slayer). The sound and vocals clearly have a grungy sound (nowadays referred to as 'pop-metal'), which is a bit predictable but not yet worn out. Feeder builds songs from a propelling energetic rhythm, a fat bass guitar and screaming vocals, without losing dynamics and harmony. The single Buck Rogers is a good example of their gritty power rock that you especially have to play hard. (BP)more
