Gangsta rapper Snoop (Doggy) Dogg made a lightning-fast career in the early 1990s. First, his raps made sure that producer Dr. Dre, The Chronic from 1992, became an outright hip-hop classic. Later he did it all over with his successful solo debut Doggystyle (1993). Although his star status has decreased somewhat in the meantime, he remains an institution within hip hop. On this CD he presents the
… artists he has signed for his own record label Doggy Style Records. Like most hip hop labels, Snoop has a number of tough rappers (Soopafly, E-White and Mr. Kane) and an attractive singer. Doggystyle's own hip hop princess is called LaToiya Williams and she sings the choruses on different tracks. A downside is that the Doggystyle label doesn't have a distinctive sound. All songs have been put together by different producers, so there is no coherent whole. (MS)more
