Alison Moyet started her musical career in the early eighties as the singer of the synthesizer duo Yazoo. This was followed by a successful solo career, of which the CDs Alf and Raindancing were the highlights. She also scored big hits in the Netherlands with Love Resurrection, All Cried Out and That Ole Devil Called Love. Her last album Essex was released in 1994 and then things went quiet. After
… eight years, however, she is completely back with Hometime. Her typical poppy crooner style has clearly matured during this period, as if it were a bottle of good wine. Her compositions have more depth and are optimally worked out under the direction of the producer duo The Insects in the Omni Studios of Massive Attack. The necessary trip-hop influences are therefore evident. Still, Hometime sticks more to the pop side, manifesting herself as a female version of David Bowie. All songs on Hometime are of such a high level that it becomes very difficult to pick a favorite from here. Rarely has a comeback been so strong. (AD)more
