Herbert Grönemeyer was born in 1956 in the German town of Göttingen. He made his debut as a pop artist in 1979 with the album , followed by Zwo (1981) and (1982). The big breakthrough at home came in 1984 with the beautiful album . In the Netherlands he had his biggest hit in 1988 with the ballad Halt Mich, from the album Ö. With a little imagination you could call Herbert Grönemeyer the
… German . He has an equally high, slightly hoarse voice and Grönemeyer's lyrics are often political too. Four years after the solid album (1998) Mensch appears. In the intervening four years he has apparently familiarized himself with all the modern devices that are present in a recording studio in 2002. Fortunately, he does not forget that the power of the song always comes first. This combination has turned Mensch into a great song album that sounds like a clock. Highlights are the solid Neuland, the alienating Zum Meer and the beautiful ballad Der Weg, which with a bit of luck can match the success of Halt Mich. (MvP)more
