In the category 'new bands from old rockers', Eyes Adrift can also be added after Zwan, Audioslave and Queens Of The Stone Age. The band consists of ex-members of Nirvana (bassist Krist Novolesic), Meat Puppets (singer / guitarist Curt Kirkwood) and Sublime (drummer Bud Gaugh) and delivers its debut with this CD. And just like in previous cases, these men have not yet forgotten and - more importantly
… - do not have to prove anything and can make music freely. Eyes Adrift's music is a friendly variation of the alternative rock of the nineties and lacks the aggression of the aforementioned bands. Country-like songs such as Blind Me and Dottie Dawn & Julie Jewel actually show the influence of singer / songwriters like Ryan Adams. Eyes Adrift has the charm of a hobby band and occasionally still sounds too casual to really make a deep impression. With the songs from this album they will not easily turn a room upside down, but at home on the couch it is good for an hour of uncomplicated listening pleasure. (MS)more
