Cerrone can proudly call himself the godfather of French disco. His unforgettable disco hits Love In C Minor and Supernature and of course the rest of his repertoire have been a grateful source of inspiration for Bob Sinclair, Dimitri From Paris, Alex Gopher and many other big names from the French house movement. Scantily clad ladies on his covers were traditionally his trademark, although 'scantily
… clad' is an understatement in the case of Hysteria. At the time of this release, 51-year-old Cerrone seems to have indulged herself with scissors, a jar of glue and a pile of photos of a lady who looks so young that her cooperation could be punishable. Fortunately the CD is a lot less rancid. With the cooperation of Nile Rodgers from Chic and his old label mates Don Ray and Kongas, Cerrone shows twenty-five years after his heyday that he has lost nothing of its strength and is certainly not inferior to his followers. In fact, thanks to his experience and his unmistakable street feel, Cerrone is back with Hysteria as France's hottest disco producer. (AD)more
