Regarding the name, The Androids - with 'The' and an 's' - can be added to The Strokes, The Vines, The Datsuns, The Libertines and so on. Musically, however, it is a bit different. Because where the aforementioned bands are part of the garage rock trend that emerged around 2000, The Androids is a band that belongs more in the corner of 'commercial power pop with a punk edge'. In the Netherlands the song received a lot of radio airplay and in home country Australia it even earned the band a platinum record. The rest of the album is also full of this kind of smoothly produced, slick rock songs that listen well but don't make much of an impression. That's a shame, because tracks like Bored and Automatic, which remind you a bit of Ash, prove that The Androids can do better. (IV)more
