American rock band The Supersuckers was formed in Tucson in 1990 but moved to Seattle, where they almost immediately got a record deal with the illustrious SubPop label. Their debut, The Smoke Of Hell, instantly endeared the band to its infectious combination of rock, punk and country. The level of the Smoke Of Hell was unfortunately no longer equaled on the two other records that the band made for
… SubPop and The Supersuckers seemed to have died a silent death. Until in 1999 suddenly The Evil Powers Of Rock 'n Roll appeared and it turned out that the band was still alive and kicking and above all made an extremely rocking record. This also applies to Motherfuckers Be Trippin ', which automatically nods the head from start to finish and makes it impossible not to stomp the rhythm with the foot. There are plenty of highlights, but opener Rock-n-Roll Records (Ain't Selling This Year), Pretty Fucked Up and Sleepy Vampire can now be considered highlights in the Supersuckers oeuvre anyway. With Motherfuckers Be Trippin ', The Supersuckers are making their best attempt yet to make the ultimate rock album. (RWK)more
