Indigo Girls (Amy Ray and Emily Saliers) has been one of the established values in American (folk) rock since the eighties. Since their debut album Strange Fire (1987), the ladies can not only count on a loyal fan base, Ray and Saliers can also look forward to many admirers among fellow musicians, who often gave a guest appearance. On the ninth studio album All That We Let In (2004), Joan
… Osborne can be heard, who provides the background vocals in three songs. The Indigo Girls again show themselves to be extremely committed world citizens and without appearing to be pedantic or preachy, they sing just as much about problems at the macro level (the hole in the ozone layer, the limited drinking water supply, etc.) as well as personal issues such as a broken relationship. Also musically All That We Let In is alternately: from the up-tempo opener Fill It Up Again to the ska influences in Heartache For Everyone and beautiful ballads like Cordoua and the title track. The result is a sympathetic and captivating record. (IV)more
