Even Stil is the third album by Dutch rapper Gertjan Mulder, aka Brainpower. Since he scored with the hit Dansplaat (which was even number 1 in Belgium) he has been thriving and he has been showered with prizes such as an Edison and an MTV Award. In 2003 and 2004 he mainly focused on his side project ADHD, with which he also performed at Noorderslag and Lowlands. On Even Stil, Brainpower does what
… it does best: intelligent raps that often go deeper than the average gangster rap text. You can immediately hear this in the opening track Back: 'Because I keep myself in that absurd biz where everything is shit / the masses are a herd and everything is urban'. The single Alles, which was released in the run-up to this album, was well received and often played on the music stations. Many guests also participate on the album, like New York's Kool Keith (Magnetic Fields) and Ram1 (Next Dimension). In the song Even Stil the voice of Bløf singer Paskal Jakobsen can be heard, who sings the song Niets Dan Dit. Brainpower's third album shows that he is still one of the best rappers in the Netherlands. (JdD)more
