Tim Beumers has been one of the pioneers of the underground hip-hop crew VSOP since 1996. As a solo artist he frequently participated in so-called freestyle spit battles, in which two rappers improvise and challenge each other through rap lyrics. After winning a number of these battles, he was tired of being seen only as a 'spitter'. To put it in his own words, it was high time to deliver a solo CD
… with completed tracks. At the Highest Time, Tim shows that he has a good dose of self-perspective and humor. Such as in Bolle, where he overhauls his own eating urge, or Mond Vol Tanden, about the horrors of a visit to the dentist. The last track from the album, Believe Me, for which Unorthadox wrote the chorus, appeared as a single with a clip. Of course there are more guest musicians on the album, such as Senna, Mini, Tjerk, Wudstick and ODM. De Hoge Tijd is more of a whole than the albums of VSOP, but still has an underground feeling and certainly does not contain smooth hits like Ali B and Lange Frans & Baas B make. (JdD)more
