Since the single In The Shadows, the Finnish band The Rasmus is also known in the rest of Europe. The song was taken from the CD Dead Letters (2003), with which the band made a successful attempt to break through outside Finland, although the success in the Netherlands was mainly limited to that one single. Hide From The Sun is the successor to Dead Letters and continues the formula of the predecessor.
The Rasmus flirts blatantly with gothic themes, but it goes nowhere really deep. Darkness and death are present in almost all songs to a greater or lesser extent, but the lyrics mainly consist of superficialities about love that conquers death, loneliness or that you don't have to be afraid of the dark. Usually no more than clichés, but undoubtedly certain people are sensitive to it. Packed in solid rock with metal influences, Hide From The Sun is an accessible CD that will certainly appeal to fans of Dead Letters. (IV)more
