By playing the harmonica part of Bruce Channel's well-known Hey Baby ('62), the youthful musician Delbert McClinton first became acquainted with rock 'n' roll. During his English tour with Channel he learned to play John Lennon harmonica, the instrument that was so prominent on the Beatles' first singles. … the years that followed he would never score such a huge hit but his name pops up everywhere, behind the scenes of countless artists from the roots world but also with his own solo work. McClinton is a versatile musician, who plays both guitar and harmonica and has a nice gritty singing voice. His ability to work with many genres is much praised.
