When Ed Handley and Andy Turner, together with the English IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) duo Plaid, take the stage for a live performance, they always work together with video artist Bob Jaroc for the much-needed visuals to enhance their act. Plaid thought it was high time to put this artist in the spotlight with the CD / DVD package Greedy Baby. The atmosphere varies from heavy noises from the
… darkest recesses of the human brain to cheerful, optimistic back and forth bleeps and beeps. In short, typical Plaid, but unfortunately not at its best this time, because except for The Return Of Super Barrio, all compositions seem to be made to support Jaroc's images and not the other way around. In turn, Jaroc's images look as if they were meant to support a performance by Plaid as usual, because beyond street scenes, a visit to a Japanese dentist and many, many fast moving blurred spots he does not come. Again, The Return Of Super Barrio in the form of a political cartoon is a favorable exception. When Plaid and Jaroc think a little more about their own art forms the next time, it could yield an interesting product. (AD)more
