The Partysquad is a duo consisting of dj Jerry Leembruggen and mc Ruben 'Ruby Funkdoobie' Fernhout. Together they performed in various Dutch and foreign clubs, at parties such as Innercity and Ambassador and as support act for 50 Cent and Kanye West. They also present a program on FunX. National fame came with the single Wat Wil Je Doen, which introduced the whole of the Netherlands to their 'urban'
… sound. The mix of hip hop, reggae (ton), bubbling, r & b and dance can also be found on De Bazen Van De Club, the first full-length album. The CD starts with a pretentious intro in which Ruben briefly explains how the Dutch urban scene works. Listen once and then never again. Then the album really starts, with smashing club tracks on which a large number of (emerging) stars from the Dutch hop and arrenbie can be heard, such as Brainpower, Negativ, Lange Frans, The Opposites, Kempi, Ali B and Yes-R. The contribution of folk singer Peter Beense is also striking. The share of Ruben and Jerry themselves is more difficult to trace, only Ruben can sometimes be heard and found in the credits. But as a party album De Bazen Van De Club works very well. (IV)more
