Tim Finn became known in the late 1970s as the singer of the New Zealand group Split Enz, scored a huge solo hit in the Netherlands in 1983 with the reggae song Fraction Too Much Friction and assisted his brother Neil on the most successful Crowded House album: Woodface from 1991. The musical direction of Tim, prepared Beatlesque pop rock, has been fixed for years. On Imaginary Kingdom, his first
… solo album since Say It Is So (2000), he shows that he has not lost his sense of catchy melodies. The first songs Couldn't Be Done and Still The Song already settle in the memory from the first listen. In addition to uncomplicated pop songs with intelligent lyrics - Finn once studied political science and philosophy - there is also room for the necessary reflection. Salt To The Sea, for example, is an emotional song about Finn's old band mate Paul Hester, the cheerful Crowded House drummer who took his own life in 2005, completely unexpected. This special edition has an additional seven-track DVD, recorded in August 2006. (MS)more
