His name is hardly known to the general public, but millions of people have somehow become acquainted with Ferry van Leeuwen. During Marco Borsato's concerts, for example, during which he has provided background vocals for many years. Or perhaps as the singer of the Memories Band, the band that faithfully gives 'an acte de presence' to the KRO television program of the same name. Eight years after
… Ferry's debut album Hart Van Een Winnaar (1999), the successor Intens is released. This time, no songs by Borsato's regular composer John Ewbank, but - except for the title song from Memories (Jij En Ik) - all of Ferry's own compositions, whether or not in collaboration with drummer Ton Dijkman. When recording the CD, Van Leeuwen received help from the many musicians from his address book, who are without exception among the most popular session musicians in the Netherlands. Anyone who occasionally swoons away with the music of Memories can play Intens, with twelve largely romantic listening songs, with peace of mind. (MS)more
