Early 1999 singer / bass player Jan-Chris de Koeijer announced the end of the well-known Zeeland group Gorefest. A band that made a subtle switch halfway through its ten-year existence from relentless death metal to more layered heavy metal. This created their own sound in which the imposing grunt of De Koeijer continued to play a prominent role and with which they even reached further than the… metal scene in terms of success. Their reunion in 2005 with the album La Muerte was surprising. With Rise To Ruin, the group also proves that they mean it and are back on full force. Because this seventh album sounds powerful with eleven overwhelming metal constructions in which the tempo is often kept spicy. De Koeijer uses his primal scream mainly to emphasize a great anger.
