Swayzak - Polish for union or covenant - was founded in 1993 by Londoners David Brown and James Taylor (not to be confused with the singer or the Hammond organist). It took five years before their debut Snowboarding In Argentina, a pleasant mix between deep and minimal house, saw the light. Nine years later they are still on this path, but fortunately they have not been bothered by the current
… minimal scene where King Eenheidsworst rules roughly. In fact, with Some Other Country, Swayzak returns to the heyday and warmth of their debut. As usual, vocal aid comes from Richard Davies and newcomers Cassy and Les Fauves who manage to cheer up the dark sound and provide a portion of blue eyed soul. Some Other Country is therefore more of an atmospheric album for lovers of long tracks with a careful structure, than a CD to pull full dance floors along. (AD)more
