There's something different about the Backstreet Boys on their fifth album Unbreakable, but what? Wait, of course! There are now only four, while there were once really five. Who then left? It turns out to be Kevin Richardson, the oldest of the group, who indicated in 2006 that he would rather do something else, such as musicals. The remaining 'boys' decided not to replace Richardson, and listening
… to Unbreakable it turns out that this was not necessary either. It is hard to hear that they now have to make do with one less, everything sounds so familiar. With sweet vocals, the four remaining ones actually still sing exactly the same songs as before, without an eye for the musical developments around them. In itself that makes little difference, but you may wonder how long they will keep this up. (IV)more
