Icelanders are apparently a people of few words. As with there is hardly any information in the booklet accompanying this album by Ólafur Arnalds. Words probably also came up short when making up the titles, because all songs were given a number as the title. The instrumental music on Eulogy For Evolution is based on piano themes supported by moody string arrangements. Ólafur is seen in his home
… country as a great talent, he is only 21, and his music has also been picked up in England and Germany. Support acts for Ane Brun and Sigur Rós introduced his neo-classical music to the younger pop audience he is eager to reach. Arnalds' serene music ripples on beautifully. That is why the ferocious metal guitars in the last song come off as a big break in style. Anyway, Eulogy For Evolution is a remarkable debut by a promising artist. (PdK)more
