The fragile sound that made such a charming debut of Faded Seasided Glamor (2004) got a lot of flesh four years later. The melodic songs were already provided with a fuller sound on the second album You See Colors (2006). The third album Everything's The Rush sounds almost bombastic, complete with strings and echoing guitar work. It is thanks to this development that Delays has managed to build an
… unexpectedly good live reputation on both sides of the ocean. Despite this, the relationship with record company Rough Trade was broken, leaving the band briefly insecure before signing a new contract with Polydor. At the same time, singer and songwriter Greg cleaned up the relationship with a new lover. The lyrics and music of the third album Everything's The Rush are inevitably dominated by a new self-confidence. Delays has now definitely grown from a fragile band into a solid pop group. (MS)more
