Peter Broderick is a busy owner. He comes from Portland, Oregon but moved to Denmark to make music with the innovative company Efterklang. In between acts he managed to find time for his solo work. Barely six months after his debut Float, an instrumental piano record, his second album Home is released. He then went back to basics: his (doubled) singing and guitar playing are only sparsely colored
… with fragments, drums, piano and musical saw, all played by the man himself. Simplicity is the magic word on a record with which Broderick follows the trend of pastoral roots music, by names such as Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes and Phosphorescent. A still and harmonious sound that is only brought to a climax once (Sickness, Bury). (MS)more
