The three brothers Simone, Ian and James Felice grew up near New York. Together with their bass-playing friend Christmas Clapton they must have studied extensively the Bob Dylan and The Band records from their father's collection. … tempo of opener The Big Surprise suddenly sounds suspiciously studied and thought out. There is also audible no longer on the veranda or during a party that got out of hand, but in a cold studio. Singer Ian Felice may have made it the night before, making his Dylanesque voice painfully broken and hoarse. The theatrically drifting and hopping music to which he sings sometimes even reminds of Tom Waits. Good songs, well executed but lacking the spontaneity of yesteryear. (MR)more
