What do you get when you put MIA and Lily Allen in the mixer? A rude, cheeky artist, who doesn't exactly know what kind of music she actually wants to make, but nevertheless does it well, or Amanda Blank. Her debut album I Love You has been produced by artists such as Diplo & Switch - known from Major Lazer and XXXChange. Hard drums and deep, electric bass lines characterize the sound of the
… record. The rapping is not bad for Blank, but it is clear that the productions must support her in this. In addition, the level of the strong first half is unfortunately not maintained. The song A Love Song is a cover of LL Cool J's I Need Love and could be seen as sacrilege by purists. Her timing couldn't have been better though because in 2009 there is a generation that prefers to be eclectic in everything, from clothing style to music genre. Amanda Blank could count as their poster child. (GL)more
