Rajae el Mouhandiz is a Dutch singer with Moroccan / Algerian roots. As a 15-year-old girl, she was already aware of her talent and the Amsterdam Conservatory recognized this. After that official music training, Rajae immersed herself in jazz and soul to eventually compose pieces herself. With her debut album Incarnation (2006) she was not able to break any pots. Her second project Hand Of Fatima
… aims to change that. During the first tracks it becomes clear that Rajae is extremely musical, especially when we consider that she produced this CD herself. Her music is like a coloring sheet in which the lines were formed by her basic study in classical compositions, and which was then colored with soul, jazz and funk influences. Her voice here and there is fragile and somewhat amateurish, but we can forgive her because Hand Of Fatima is a pleasure to listen to. Rajae also knows how to fascinate in terms of content. In addition to fierce subjects such as the war in the Middle East, she also deals with more accessible matters such as love. Sensational record! (GL)more
