Since the departure of Xzibit in 2006, the hip-hop group Strong Arm Steady has consisted of the three rappers Mitchy Slick, Phil The Agony and Krondon. Together they represent the underground scene of Los Angeles, California. This collective mainly relied on mixtapes and intensive touring. In 2007 they released the album Deep Hearted, which was not picked up everywhere, but nevertheless received
… good reviews. For their second album In Search of Stoney Jackson they were allowed to choose beats from the endless repertoire of Beat Konducta Madlib. Loyal Madlib fans will probably recognize a number of productions from previous releases, but the vocal part, which is enhanced by rappers Evidence, Planet Asia, Talib Kweli and Phonte, among others, breathes new life into these beats. It would also be a shame to leave productions of such a level unused. With his cut and paste work, Madlib has laid a strong foundation for the aggressive puns of Phil The Agony and the dirty voice of Krondon. (GL)more
