A reunion of the Talking Heads will never come again, according to ex-frontman David Byrne. Something like that doesn't suit him either, because Byrne prefers to look ahead. Like with this exciting project, because who in his fifties would dream of making a musical about the life of Imelda Marcos? You know, the immensely wealthy woman who ran a dictatorial regime over the Philippines with her husband.
David Byrne gets away with it. He approached Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim) and the duo exchanged musical ideas in emails. The result is this one and a half hour long disco musical. Yes disco, because Imelda liked to visit famous disco clubs such as Studio 54. The lyrics are based on diaries and letters from Imelda and her best friend Estrella Cumpas. Byrne and Cook use a long list of famous guest singers to give Imelda and Estrella a voice. The result is a cheerful, summery and danceable album. So it was a good idea to have that reunion with .
