With Haus Am See, the funky single from his solo debut, Peter Fox immediately scored a 3 FM Megahit. This makes the Berlin hip-hopper the first artist since Die Fantasten Vier (which was back in 1993) to score a German-language rap hit. High time, because a lot has changed for the better in German hip-hop within a decade and a half. The special thing about Peter Fox is that he is supported by an
… entire orchestra in his raps and singing parts. The combination of swelling violins and Fox 'intelligent plaything' with language make it unique. To be fair, Haus Am See stands head and shoulders above the other songs, and towards the end Stadaffe unfortunately suffers from uniformity. This album has little to do with the work of Seeed, the reggae group with which Fox became known. Earlier he finds a like-minded spirit in Kyteman. Oh, And don't worry if you haven't practiced the German language since high school. Fortunately, all texts are also printed in the booklet. (PdK)more
