Brazilian producer Amon Tobin achieved modest success in the early noughties with his CDs (2000) and (2002). Tobin is someone who likes to push the boundaries of his profession. This did not always improve the listenability of his CDs, and on this album too he demands the utmost from his listeners and their good mood. It seems as if he found the inspiration for the opening song Journeyman during
… the spring cleaning. Beautiful melody lines are mangled by sounds that seem to have entered the interior of his vacuum cleaner or the clogged drain of his sink. Tobin hides the sparse, beautiful melody lines under thick layers of noise and abstract nerve beats. An excellent way to keep your reputation 'credible', but the question is how many people really want to listen to this. (PdK)more
