For the second time, Dutch hip hop pioneer Def P and the ska band The Beatbusters are joining forces. It is clear that they enjoy working together. The first collaboration Aangenaam (2001) was the result of a joint performance and one may wonder who is now waiting for a sequel. The music still reminds us of a poor copy of Doe Maar with instead of singer Henny Vrienten, rapper Def P and a band that
… plays quite nicely, but is nowhere near the most popular pop group of all time in the Netherlands. What awaits the listener are a lot of clichéd wind sections, bass lines and rhythms that just lack the laziness to really groove. Add to that a preachy Def P and the result is a fairly unnecessary record, which lacks all life. This music belongs on the stage at a lively festival where the grass is covered with plastic beer cups. (GL)more
