After twenty years, De Heideroosjes quit, but their farewell salute is not very convincing. Limburg's most famous punk group calls their farewell CD Ceasefire, or armistice. Should their termination be seen as a temporary stop? Anyway, on Ceasefire the group takes an old-fashioned approach with their punk rock in English and Dutch. On songs like Knetterhard and Weg Van De Moste Weerstand, the lyrics
… are more personal than ever and frontman Marco Roelofs brings back fond memories of his twenty years with the band. He seems to find it difficult to distance himself from it. In the last song he sings 'Traffic jam closing times child soldiers hand grenades cancer killing smoking bans / If then no more exists then I will slash my mouth / Until then I will keep snarling and meow and ruminate'. Then you know that we probably won't have to wait long for the De Heideroosjes reunion tour. (PdK)more
