Sef is without a doubt the most active member of all Flinke Namen members. He is best known for his choruses and guest appearances. His part is not always ingenious, but often effective enough to ensure a hit, such as number 1 hit Broodje Bakpao (2009) by The Opposites. Does this mean that a solo album would be one big hit? De Leven is the title of Sef's attempt to make an impression entirely on
… his own. The wrong article in the title is deliberate and it would be nice if he could make up for it lyrically with ingenious metaphors or fun wordplay. However, Sef is not in a position to manipulate the Dutch language. That is really something for a rapper and Sef is a mediocre one. Production-wise, the '80s and' 90s influences quickly get boring, even though producers Reverse and Big2 of The Opposites do their best to put it in a modern way. Unfortunately a 'classic' solo album is not for him, at least not in 'this' life. (GL)more
