In June 2008 Obie Trice left Shady Records because he felt he was not being promoted well enough. To still be in the shadow of Shady's then showpiece 50 Cent after a strong debut (Cheers, 2003) and a nice follow-up (Second Round's On Me, 2006) was perhaps something that the rapper, who was one of the few name, could not be at peace with. His third album Bottom's Up was released on Obie's own label
… Black Market Entertainment. Rumors of alleged feuds with mentors Eminem and Dr. Dre are immediately quashed after seeing the track listing and hearing it by Dr. Dre-produced intro. Their influence, which was the main attraction on previous albums, has been limited to three tracks. It is painful that Obie seems to be able to make fewer steps on her own and that a track like Richard, one of the few attractions, is based on Eminem's humorous contribution. Obie Trice is unfortunately doomed to mediocrity on his own. (GL)more
