Oh Holy Molar is the second studio album by the English trio Felix. For the follow-up to You Are The One I Pick (2009), the band did not immediately go into the studio, but an old, spooky cinema in London to record the foundations of the album. Later the thirteen songs were edited in the studio, but the gloom of abandoned cinemas can be heard in most of the songs. Singer Lucinda Chua sings about
… superstition, rituals and protection against evil, a theme that fits perfectly with her striking sound. Because of the minimal instrumental line-up, Oh Holy Molar is covered with a heavy blanket of melancholy and depression. Highlights on the album are opener The Bells, the dubious Hate Song and the beautiful diptych Blessings. All in all it didn't become an album that makes you smile but that is exactly what Felix had in mind. Mission accomplished. (BvdV)more
