What is striking about guitarist, singer and songwriter Josh Peyton is the relatively young age at which he plays his lived and primitive blues, rhythm & blues and rock 'n roll. This ancient soul was born in 1981 and discovered Muddy Waters, Bukka White and other pre-war blues artists at an early age. A nice story is how he injured his hand in an attempt to master the fingerpicking style of his
… heroes. The hand needed surgery and during his hospital stay he met the nurse and his future wife and washboard player Breezy. Together with his brother and drummer Jayme, The Big Damn Band was formed and the trio plays an average of about two hundred and fifty concerts a year. Jayme has since been replaced by Aaron Persinger. Between The Ditches lets the trio sound unadorned and is full of energetic and raw country blues that fans of Seasick Steve and the blues stable of Fat Possum will also know what to do with. (MR)more
