For many people, the image they have of the United States has become through the film, more specifically through the Western. The funny thing is that the most famous westerns (Once Upon A Time In The West for example) were shot in Spain by Sergio Leone, an Italian director. Is it strange that six Italians play sweltering americana? Not at all! And certainly not when they do it as skillfully as Sacri
… Cuori. Lovers of dry roots music a la Calexico should definitely pay attention to this group from the Bologna area. Sacri Cuori makes film music for westerns that have not yet been recorded at all. Most of the songs are instrumental, but when you hear the two songs that Isobel Campbell (ex-Belle & Sebastian) sang, you still fantasize about the potential of this group. Imaginative details such as the languidly falling water drops in Fortuna (a nod to the opening scene of Once Upon A Time In The West) make up for a lot on this promising debut album. (PdK)more
