Thanks to his participation in the talent show The Best Singer / Songwriter Of The Netherlands 2013, television viewers get to know and that is a good thing. He is an idiosyncratic songwriter who, unlike many of his peers, is not obsessed with his own love life. Of course he also sings love songs (the intimate Fris En Schoon, for example), but just as easily he sings about a murder in the neighborhood
… of Waalwijk or takes on the role of a dock worker. He does this in original lyrics with words that you don't easily hear in pop songs. On half of the songs you hear nothing more than Jeroen's voice and his acoustic guitar. When he is accompanied by a drummer and a double bass player, his music gets a bit angular, a bit -like humparock. The highlight is the lump-in-the-throat song Liza in which a little girl goes in search of her presumed dead father. Regardless of the results of the TV talent show, Jeroen Kant is one of the most original songwriters in our country. (PdK)more
