In the 21st century, one revival after another presents itself. Swing, bluegrass, rockabilly: you can do it all again. … you can dance quite quickly. The group was founded by Lord Mouse, an American who has lived in Berlin for fifteen years and hunts enthusiastically for calypso-78 rpm records. A lot of the songs on this album are also covers of songs from his record collection. The Kalypso Katz come from seven different countries, although you would swear they all spent their music studies in the Caribbean. With their fully acoustic instruments, the group sounds as if they came straight from the fifties.
