In The Silence is the debut album by Icelandic singer Asgeir Trausti Einarsson. Asgeir is only twenty, but already a celebrated man. In 2012 he won no less than four Icelandic Music Awards, including that for 'album of the year'. That was the original edition with texts in Icelandic at the time. In The Silence it is by translated variant. The album starts in a moody way with a dark piano, surrounded
… by fragments of electronic sounds and a minimalistic computer drum. Asgeir's voice fits exactly in this bed: high but not thin. The singer produces a solid, warm sound that produces enough melancholy to get through long dark winter evenings. That warm sound is not only the credit of Asgeir, but also of producer Gudmundur Kristinn Jonsson. He opts for the power of simplicity. Electronic drums, but modest, with synthesizers, but subtle, with horns, but soft. The best example of this is Going Home. A song of longing, a song of loneliness, a song that blends in perfectly with the silence of a vast Icelandic landscape in the twilight of the afternoon. (HF)more
