Since Identity's release in 2009, Airbag has garnered a steady fan base. The Greatest Show On Earth is the third album by the Norwegian progrockers and, just like the previous two records, it fully meets the taste of Pink Floyd lovers. The album consists of six pieces, of which the first and the last belong together. Airbag's music sounds grand, professional, self-assured and the beautiful artwork
… radiates that. You would almost think that Norwegians act like nasty celebs too. There is a video on the band's website in which guitarist Bjørn Riis explains how they recorded this album. There is an overweight man with a beard, dressed in a simple black T-shirt, explaining which guitars and amplifiers he uses. Not in a fancy studio, but in a kind of garage. One of the amplifiers, mumbles the timid Riis, is also suitable for home recordings. Can your girlfriend just keep watching TV? This both-foot-on-the-ground mentality is irresistible. Airbag makes heavenly music, but more earthy than earthy. (HF)more
