In the summer of 2010, the undersigned became deeply impressed by Mountain Man's debut Made The Harbor (JK162284). This debut full of sparingly produced but beautiful folk was released by Bella Union. The record hardly caused any controversy. It is to be hoped that the label - which with Fleet Foxes, Midlake and John Grant still houses many successful artists - has more luck with Sumie. Together
… with acclaimed pianist and composer Nils Frahm, Swedish singer / songwriter Sandra Sumie Nagano has made a fantastic debut album. Sumie is the older sister of singer Yukimi Nagano (Little Dragon, Gorillaz), but she has her own plan. Her sister's electropop is taken care of down to the last detail, almost factory-like, Sumie's songs flow into your ears much more naturally. Nagano strums and muses and takes you on a journey to her innermost thoughts. Recommended for anyone who wants to relax. Every day half an hour of Sumie and you can do it again. Mountain Man can be rotated for a change. (JE)more
