On March 31, 2014, the Edison Pop Oeuvre Prize went to the Zeeland band Bløf, founded in 1992. The four men gratefully accepted this honorable prize, but hoped to be able to expand this oeuvre for at least another twenty years by making new songs, albums and concert tours. Bløf has a recognizable and familiar sound, but also always wants to keep renewing itself. That is why the eleventh studio
… album In Het Midden Van Alles was chosen to record it in Carpentras in the south of France and to finish it in the Brussels ICP studios. They also engaged the talented producer JB Meijers for a fresh look. His contribution worked out particularly well: IHMVA starts with pretty solid up-tempo rock songs, to which intriguing electronic dance effects have been added. After the soulful and cheerful sing-along song Open Je Ogen, become the listener in Spijt Heb Je Morgen Maar explicitly invited to sing and dance. There are also musing poetic listening songs, such as Until The Bittere End and On / Off. IHMVA has a little bit of everything, but above all a refreshingly rich sound and enthusiastic playing pleasure. (SvdP)more
