Andy Butler, the producer behind Hercules & Love Affair, will do anything to break free from their debut single Blind (2008), sung by Antony Hegarty at the time. His project is so identified with this song that all their further artistic achievements are compared to this song. This could be a good reason that The Feast Of The Broken Hearted is more club-oriented than their predecessor Blue Songs
… (2011). Butler takes us back to the club scene of London or Chicago in the late eighties when hiphouse ruled the dance floor and most synthesizers produced purely acid sounds. In these spheres he delivers ten rather similar dance floor songs that are also sung this time by a can of fresh vocalists, of which Krystle Warren (My Offence) and John Grant (Liberty) are the most notable. A pleasant nothing to worry about dance album without too much disturbing depth. (AD)more
