She has been called the 'most blogged' artist of 2014: Jillian Banks, better known as Banks. The American singer used online music services to distribute her first songs, which were picked up en masse by blogs and other websites. For a long time Banks managed to keep the music press warm; individual tracks, remixes, singles and two EPs left everyone looking forward to her debut Goddess. With the

Banks makes dark, electronic R&B, with productions from SOHN, Lil Silva, Shlohmo and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, among others. Their beats are full of suppressed tension, which is further enhanced by Bank's candid lyrics. Among all the electronics, the acoustic tracks Someone New and Under The Table stand out, in which Banks' singer-songwriter side emerges. The bloggers got it right: with Goddess, Banks proves himself to be one of the most interesting artists of 2014. (IV)more
