In 2012, The Residents celebrated the fact that they have been one of the strangest manifestations in the music world for 40 years. No one should ever know which faces are behind this company; which once generated the myth that it was The Beatles themselves. The mystery was reinforced by records such as Third Reich 'n' Roll (1976) and Commercial Album (1980) on which popular music is put through an
… absurdist mangle, while the classic Eskimo (1979) is an archaic radio play for howling wind noises and screeching Eskimos. In the 1980s, The Residents also started performing, albeit unrecognizable with their faces hidden under huge eyeballs, among other things. This live CD was recorded in the Amsterdam Muziekgebouw Aan Het IJ and contains a cross-section of songs from theater shows such as The Mole Show (1989), Wormwood (1998) and Demons Dance Alone (2002). The hectic, scotch and crooked electronic sounds and the raw vocals of the company now reduced to a power trio, make Marching To The See a pleasantly unfathomable whole again. (MR)more
