In addition to a not without merit house producer, the Brazilian Gui Boratto is also a great art lover. Abaporu's cover is based on a work by Brazilian artist Tarsilo Do Amarai who, through the Manifesto Antropogafo (the Cannibalistic Manifesto), strived to transform European art influences into a Brazilian style of its own. Boratto has adopted this method and tries to achieve the same with his
… minimal house productions. Basically it doesn't differ much from the average minimal techno production, but Boratto gets the Brazilian influences from small rhythmic additions that he plays on his guitar himself. This makes the whole a little more cheerful than its European counterparts, since he uses very simple repetitive rhythm patterns that make his music a lot warmer than his European colleagues. He also mixes up electro and house beats in a tastefully dosed way, but that is of course not unique. (AD)more
